If the OcuTrap app is frozen, won't load, or you're not getting push notifications, a full quit or reinstall usually fixes it. Your account, traps, images, and subscription stay on the server — resetting the app on your phone does not delete them. After you reinstall, sign in with the same email and password.

Try the steps below in order. Start with a force quit; only reinstall if that doesn't help.

Force Quit the App

Closing the app from the home screen isn't always enough. Use the app switcher so it fully stops, then open it again.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. Open the App Switcher: swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle (or double-click the Home button on older devices).
  2. Find the OcuTrap card and swipe it up to close it.
  3. Go back to the Home Screen and open OcuTrap again.

Android

  1. Open the Recents / app switcher (usually the square or recent-apps button, or a swipe-up gesture — depends on your phone).
  2. Find OcuTrap and swipe it away (or use Close all if your phone offers that).
  3. Open OcuTrap again from your Home Screen or app drawer.

Clear Cache (Android only)

On Android you can clear temporary files without uninstalling. This does not remove your signed-in session on every phone, but if the app still misbehaves after force quit, try it before a full reinstall.

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Tap Apps (or Apps & notifications), then OcuTrap.
  3. Tap Storage (or Storage & cache).
  4. Tap Clear cache — prefer this over Clear storage / Clear data, which signs you out and wipes local app data.

iPhone does not expose a separate "clear cache" control for apps. If force quit isn't enough on iOS, go to delete and reinstall below.

Delete and Reinstall the App

Use this when force quit (and Android cache clear) didn't fix the problem, or when support asks you to reinstall so the app can re-register for push notifications.

Before you delete the app, make sure you know the email and password for your OcuTrap account. You'll need them to sign in again. If you forgot your password, reset it first — see Can't Sign In to Your Account.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. Touch and hold the OcuTrap icon on the Home Screen.
  2. Tap Remove App, then Delete App, and confirm.
  3. Open the App Store, search for OcuTrap, and tap Get / the cloud icon to install again.
  4. Open OcuTrap and sign in with your email and password.
  5. When prompted, Allow Notifications so push alerts work again.
    • You can also turn them on later: Settings → Notifications → OcuTrap → Allow Notifications, then confirm Push Notifications are on in the app's Notification Settings.

Android

  1. Open Settings → Apps → OcuTrap, then tap Uninstall (or touch and hold the OcuTrap icon and choose Uninstall).
  2. Open Google Play, search for OcuTrap, and tap Install.
  3. Open OcuTrap and sign in with your email and password.
  4. When prompted, allow notifications for OcuTrap.
    • You can also turn them on later: Settings → Apps → OcuTrap → Notifications, then confirm Push Notifications are on in the app's Notification Settings.

After You Reinstall

  1. Sign in with the same account you used before — your traps should appear as usual.
  2. Open Notification Settings in the app and turn on Push Notifications plus the alert types you want.
  3. Confirm the phone itself still allows OcuTrap notifications (steps above).

What This Does Not Change

  • Your OcuTrap account, password, and email stay the same.
  • Your traps, capture history, and images stay on your account.
  • Your subscription and billing are unchanged.
  • This is not the same as deleting your account or resetting your password.
